Undergraduate Studies


Students can be admitted to the Schools of the Democritus University of Thrace via either participation in the Panhellenic Exams (i.e. the General Admittance Exams in Greece), a transfer from another University or following a Qualifying Exam (i.e. exams for Higher Level Education or University graduates). The invitation and enrollment of freshmen take place within a deadline set each year by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.

Application documents


The academic year begins on September 1 of each year and ends on 31 August of the following year.
The minimum duration of studies is four (4) academic years for most Schools, except in the following Schools/Faculties:
In the five departments of the Polytechnic Faculty, the minimum duration of studies is five (5) academic years
In Medical Schools, the minimum duration of studies is six (6) academic years.

the aims of the Internship Office are:
  • the qualitative upgrading of already established programmes of the Internship Office, as to obtain an effective two-way communication between higher education institutions and the labour market
  • the better and more in-depth assimilation of academic and educational knowledge
  • to familiarize students with the work environment and job requirements
  • a smoother transition of students from academia to the labour market, through work experience and by establishing a working relationship with potential employers
