Library and Information Centre (LIC-DUTH)

At the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), a unified central library operates as an autonomous and decentralised unit under the title Library and Information Centre of the Democritus University of Thrace (LIC-DUTH).

The aim of LIC-DUTH is to serve as an open, dynamic, and accessible learning environment in both physical and digital formats. It aspires to be a partner and supporter of research, a space for interaction and reflection, and a hub of intellectual and creative life for the institution and the wider community. LIC-DUTH seeks to contribute to individual and social development, fostering a culture of inquiry and discovery to further the university’s mission. It is committed to equal treatment of all its members, addressing inequalities with the ultimate goal of promoting the wider dissemination of knowledge.

LIC-DUTH operates under the oversight of the LIC-DUTH Committee, which ensures the smooth operation of the service, helps to shape a unified policy, evaluates services provided, and seeks ways to achieve continuous improvement and sustainable development.
