Centre for Psychological and Counselling Support
Mission
The mission of the Centre for Psychological and Counselling Support (CEPCOUSY-DUTH) is to provide psychological and counselling services, as well as to prevent mental health issues within the university community, with a particular focus on undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.
CEPCOUSY-DUTH was established by Senate decision 5/97/16-11-2023. It is staffed by psychologists and social workers, is based in Komotini, and operates in all cities where Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) maintains academic units. It provides psychological and counselling services both in person and remotely, using digital infrastructure and services.
The Centre’s activities are coordinated by the Scientific Committee of CEPCOUSY-DUTH, which was formed by Senate decision 7/97/16-11-2023. This committee comprises five (5) faculty members (academic staff) from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, and social work, and serves a three-year term.
Services are provided both face-to-face and via distance (online) formats.
All DUTH students (undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD candidates) are eligible to use these services.
All services are offered free of charge.

The personal data collected and processed by CEPCOUSY-DUTH are strictly those necessary for each specific and clearly defined purpose and legal basis.
The processing includes data provided by individuals receiving support at the Centre, either through application or registration, such as:
- Identification data
- Contact details
- Health data
Where required, CEPCOUSY-DUTH obtains consent following the procedures prescribed by law. Individuals retain the right to withdraw their consent at any time.
All personal data are collected in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and national legislation, either at the start of the service relationship or thereafter, and are processed based on the following legal grounds:
- Consent, obtained at the start of support.
- Fulfilment of a public interest task or compliance with a legal obligation.
