Student Groups
The formation of student groups at Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) constitutes an important aspect of student life, enriching the educational experience and fostering the holistic development of students. Through participation in these groups, students have the opportunity to engage in activities beyond their core academic interests, such as artistic, cultural, environmental, or technological initiatives—meeting their needs for expression, creativity, and personal fulfilment.
At the same time, involvement in student groups enhances interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration, offering opportunities for dialogue and the joint creation of initiatives among students from different Departments and Faculties. Furthermore, the outward-looking nature of these groups—through partnerships with social, cultural, and scientific organisations—strengthens the university community’s connection with wider society and promotes active student participation in public life.
DUTH actively encourages and supports the operation of its student groups, providing financial and material resources where possible to assist in the implementation of their activities. Funding applications are submitted at the beginning of each academic year, by 15 October, and cover financial support for the following year.
Detailed information regarding the establishment and operation of student groups at DUTH can be found in the relevant Regulations, which form part of the University’s Internal .
