The Department of Occupational Therapy was established by article 8 of Law 5094/2024 (A 39), and its academic operation is set to commence in the 2025-2026 academic year, as outlined in article 31 of Law 5103/2024 (A 57). Occupational therapy is an applied science that utiJlizes targeted activities, such as physical work, play, or art, to assist individuals of all ages in developing, maintaining, or regaining functional skills necessary for daily living. The occupational therapy profession is situated within the health and social care sectors, operating on the foundational principle that engagement in purposeful activities fosters well-being and promotes health. The Department of Occupational Therapy is committed to the study of functional performance and therapeutic intervention to enhance autonomy and quality of life.
