The 6th International Week of the Democritus University of Thrace was successfully completed, having taken place from May 4 to May 8, 2026, at the Regional Government Hall event venue in Alexandroupoli, Greece.

The initiative was organized by the University’s Erasmus+ Office in collaboration with the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee, with the aim of providing professional development opportunities for administrative and academic staff from partner universities as well as potential future partner institutions of the Democritus University of Thrace. A total of 35 staff members from five countries and ten different universities participated in the event.

The central theme of all activities was the promotion of equality, inclusion, and equitable access to education. Participants had the opportunity to attend and actively engage in a rich program of educational activities, including lectures and interactive workshops.

Particular emphasis was placed on presenting tools and policies designed to foster and strengthen inclusive practices, reduce inequalities and systemic barriers, and support diverse communities of students and staff.

At the same time, networking activities and the exchange of experiences created favorable conditions for the development of new collaborations among higher education institutions from different countries, further strengthening the international dimension of the University.

The program was also complemented by cultural and social activities, which enriched the intercultural experience of participants and highlighted the importance of cultural exchange within the framework of academic cooperation and international mobility.

The 6th International Week reaffirms the role of the Democritus University of Thrace as an open, outward-looking, and internationally oriented academic institution that actively promotes internationalization, collaboration, and the development of a modern and inclusive academic environment.
