Undergraduate Studies
Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) is a modern and comprehensive Higher Education Institution that covers the full spectrum of academic disciplines. Its Faculties and Departments promote and advance the natural, technological and applied sciences, as well as the social, human sciences and health sciences, offering students a rich and multidimensional academic experience.
The University’s core objective is the holistic development of its students, so that its graduates are equipped to meet contemporary challenges at local, national, and international levels. DUTH comprises 10 Faculties and 28 Departments, offering a total of 29 undergraduate degree leading to the award of a degree or diploma. The minimum duration of studies is eight semesters for most Departments. This extends to ten semesters for the Departments of the Polytechnic School, the School of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, and the School of Veterinary Medicine, while the School of Medicine requires twelve semesters of study.
Student admission to undergraduate programmes is carried out in accordance with procedures defined by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports. All matters related to academic studies — including students’ rights and obligations, the duration of semesters and examination periods, student welfare, conditions for part-time study, and other relevant issues — are regulated by the applicable legal and institutional framework, as well as by the Internal Regulations of DUTH and those of each respective study programme.
