Democritus University of Thrace Participated in the EMERGE European University Alliance Workshop on the Plurilingual Language Policy

October 29, 2025

From 21 to 23 October 2025, Neapolis University Pafos hosted the EMERGE European University Alliance Workshop dedicated to the development of the Plurilingual Language Policy of the Alliance.

During the three-day workshop, representatives and academics from the nine partner universities, including the Democritus University of Thrace, collaborated to design a common framework that promotes linguistic and cultural diversity within the member institutions of the Alliance.

Participants worked together to create the first draft of the Alliances Language Policy, defining its structure, principles, and implementation pillars.

The workshop was opened by Professor Pantelis Sklias, Rector of Neapolis University Pafos, who highlighted the importance of plurilingualism as a pillar of inclusion, cooperation, and cultural richness in European higher education.

The event was jointly organized by Neapolis University Pafos and Université Rennes 2, which coordinates the development of the Alliance’s Language Policy.

The outcomes of this workshop contribute to advancing EMERGEs vision of a connected, inclusive, and culturally enriched European Higher Education Area.
