Rhinology – Rhinosurgery
Description:
The Department of Medicine of Democritus University of Thrace in collaboration with the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaloniki, the Medical School of the University of Crete and the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly are co-organizing the first in Greece Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Program entitled: “Rhinology – Rhinosurgery”.
The aims of the program are the postgraduate teaching, research and practical training in the field of Rhinology and Rhinosurgery.
Purpose of the postgraduate program is the training-specialization of new scientific potential in the cutting-edge scientific area of Rhinology-RhinoSurgery, the further promotion of knowledge, the development of research and the in-depth training of scientists, so that they become capable of producing new knowledge.
The diseases of the nose and thee paranasal sinuses (e.g. allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, other chronic inflammatory diseases, tumors, etc.) are of particular concern today in modern societies as they epidemiologically affect a large part of the population, adults and children, with significant socio-economic costs.
The in-depth knowledge of the pathophysiology of these diseases, the accurate and correct diagnosis and the personalized conservative and surgical treatment, will bring significant benefits for the patient and society in general. In addition, the area of rhinology is an important field of research (e.g. monoclonal antibodies, new surgical techniques with the introduction of endoscopic surgery, etc.) with the final aim of the individualized treatment of these diseases.
