      PostGraduate Studies

Democritus University of Thrace offers a wide range of Post-Graduate Studies of a high level, which are part of its purposes and its overall mission. Tuition fees for DUTH Master’s degrees are relatively attractive, while from a scientific aim point of view, post-graduate programs are particularly interesting. Within DUTH are currently executed sixty - two (62) Post-graduate Programs, ten (10) of which are without tuition fees, covering in this way a great variety of scientific fields, by playing a fateful role in reaching its educational, cultural, social and economic goals. In addition to the deepening of knowledge, the promotion of research or the specialization in modules among basic cognitive areas of DUTH different faculties, post- graduate programs encourage the interdisciplinarity and the common approach of subject modules, via the cooperation between faculties, while they also seek extroversion through the establishment of Transnational, Interinstitutional, or Interdepartmental post-graduate programs. More in particular, according to the legislation in force, the Democritus University of Thrace has established and provides one (1) Transnational, six (6) Interinstitutional, three (3) Interdepartmental and fifty - five (55) mono-departmental post graduate programs, which are leading to the acquisition of a university Master's Degree. Post-graduate studies main aims are the following:

      • The provision of a high-level up-to-date knowledge in the specific modules of the respective post graduate program each time.
      • The support of both empirical and theoretical research.
      • The close connection between curricula and the real needs of Greek businesses, organizations, economics and society in general.
      • The cooperation with recognized foreign institutions.
      • The close and systematic cooperation between students and professors.
      • The designment of executives capable of contributing to the development of Greek society.
      • The provision of substantial and formal qualifications to students, who would like to continue their studies at a PhD level.

Postgraduate Programs proposed by DUTH are either funded by the regular budget of the institution, or they have as main source of funding the annual tuition fees. The Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), in order to ensure the proper functioning and sustainability of post-graduate programs, is also looking for other funding sources, such as donations,

sponsorships and research projects. The implementation of a scholarship system with economic-social criteria, as well as the criterion of the performance of post-graduate students, is meantime promoted.
